Protagonists are the main character of your story. It is important that they are given certain characteristics. This is so your audience doesn't lose touch with them, and become disinterested in the story.

Protagonist Checklist

_] 1. There is a character arc

A character will make a decision at the end they were incapable of making at the beginning.

_] 2. Empathy is created

_] 3. Goal is urgent and *specific*

It cannot be general like the 'meaning of life' or 'happiness'.

_] 4. Stakes are high

_] 5. Active and making choices

_] 6. Sense of desperation

Character is engaged in something new that they are not prepared for and will have to discover new things (probably about themselves). A grasping at strings, a sense of not only urgency but also cluelessness.
